A somewhat overzealous Habbo developer (or was it a nutty designer?) has created something that no one has ever seen before in Habbo… and as it turns out, it’s not only completely out of the ordinary, it’s also quite… hazardous. Furthermore, I’ve been told that it’s going to be let lose on the Finnish Habbos (for test purposes, or so they said…) already this week, and that it’s coming to all Hotels mid-to-end-of-May. Hold on to your gardening gloves, or your green thumbs will be gone!
Updated with newly uploaded Monster Plant and Achievement badges, trophies, and furni, that may be used soon (May 22nd) on http://www.habbo.com.
Some things are really going to un-earth the coming weeks in Habbo. There will be things to grow and breed, quests to complete, achievements to earn and competitions to win.
Have you ever thought about growing and breeding things to make weird and wonderful creations?…Well your chance is almost here, but be warned these things need to be loved. Please also find attached an test hotel landing view. >
It’s going to be a monstrous week in Habbo – Check out this video. The video will be set to public tomorrow, but we thought you might like a sneak peek first:

Habbo is drifting into clouds. Lol
Wonder if the company model is going to last. It keeps adapting but now it just seems like everyone has something to moan about and the only people keeping habbo.com together are the base-line loyalist.

A secret told to me by Undercast you can see your plant in the finished state if you place it on a chair.

Selling extremism
A blog by Omar Lowe (Habbo: olowe07)
First of all I will start with the basics. Habbo.com on about May 22nd decided to launch a new range of Pet / stationary furniture branded as “Monster Plants”. Seeds in which you may place into your rooms and plant were released into the Shop as well as a line of various related furni’s that included Country and a new release of gardening furniture. Another, rather unusual release with these plants was a voodoo collection, all of these ranges where released under the “Monster plants” section within the Shop.
A basic selection of seeds will set you back a blinding 20c for four and considering they are 10c if you buy them in single I suppose this half price offer is OK but when you look at the overall price compared to the resale value of a seed (from rarity 1 – 8) they wont sell for more than 3c each it is quite a substantial loss. We don’t really buy pets because we want to re sell them its more of pixel heart effort into looking after something. However, these plants don’t really move and when they do say things it has no relevance to anything at all making them what I prefer to call a badge gatherer.
Point One – What are Seeds and Monster Plants
Habbo monster plants are a breed-able, glitch ridden and expensive fat face or something resembling a fluff ball (hair ball maybe?) in which it sits all day in a pot waiting to be “treated” every so often. If you don’t give into its demands for attention in these time periods you end up with a grave (of course sitting in the pot.)
Monster plants have numerous faces, shapes, mouths, noses and eyes in which you can go around Habbo spotting and clicking on them in order to complete quests. Despite been hopelessly pointless spending time searching for lines of these pot heads, I would recommend completing these quests as they earn you nice quests badges. Weirdly and slightly sadistically you might also earn a badge for killing your plants… Yes killing your pot bound thing in which you paid 10c per or 20c for four gains you a badge, I had a thought and in my head I found a connection between the voodoo release in the shop and this new found down and dark touching side to Habbo designers.
Point 2 – Strange Selling Tactics (Facebook lovers)
It is now abundantly clear to me that Habbo is trying to make it’s presence in the real world very known. Their new integrations with Facebook are not only obvious (I now use facebook to get on my Habbo) but cause me concern that if the Habbo top pods keep moving towards Facebook domination we may see a lot of user safety issues, including been encouraged to add people from Habbo onto Facebook. My mind thinks about the situation in which a Habbo.com user meets another one in real due to giving away their Facebook details to the wrong people.
However my main rant about the new monster plants is the blatantly obvious attempt to use a common Facebook game selling technique. Where basically, you ask the user to purchase a service or produce on the game. (often with a considerably large amount) You then make it so they need to come back after a certain amount of time in order to keep the produce. (in Habbo’s case keep it alive) Maybe user experience and getting rid of glitches should come before making quick cash.
Conclusion
I think that overall, looking at the platter of glitch sessions with these plants and the price I don’t think the Monster plants are anything but badge gainers and if you want to part with 160c for a rare seed you just might get some sales profit from it. Due to this oblivion of an attempt to copy other Facebook game techniques to encourage further logins I really do downplay this campaign.
There are however, some good points. For example the new badges are varied and can be gained with ease for the newer players. I also think the pet breeding idea is very good and should be implemented with other pets.
Overall Score for the “Monster Plant” Campaign: 4 / 10
